01.1966: When some 35 miles NW of Muckle Flugga, weathering a storm, the Bosun, Michael Sullivan was working on deck with other crewmen. At 3.00 am. struck by a heavy sea and Sullivan was washed over the lee rail. Two crewmen managed to grab him but could not drag him back onboard and the ship’s motion drove him under and out of their grasp. Despite an extensive search he was not seen again. Owners informed before leaving the fishing grounds.
