Joan Hammond,
William Marr was born in Dundee in 1808, as a young man he settled in Hull, and worked in the whaling trade as a harpooner. whilst living in Hull he met and married Rachel Wood in 1833. During the 1835/36 whaling season he was taken ill and died and was buried in Greenland. His wife Rachel gave birth to a son Joseph on 16th October 1835 (He never saw his son William.) In 1841 Rachel remarried a fish merchant William Elder. Joseph at the age of 18 went to Austrailia, later returning to Hull. In 1862 he married Ann Stephenson when he was 27.
Joan I hope this is the William Marr you are trying to trace, William was my great, great grandfather.

Responding to Jason Bond.
Can't answer your questions, but wondering if this is the same Thomas Bond that moved to the Isle of Man after the war and married my Grandmother who was a publican in Douglas. Died in November 1962. If it's the same fella then I have a few photos of him.

Dear Sir's,
Can anyone help? I have just finished reading a book called 'my sea lady' by Mr Graeme Ogden. it's a moving story of Escort ships escorting Merchant vessels during World War two. This one in particular was known as HMS Lady Madeleine later renamed 'kingston Diamond' She was built by 'Cook Welton & Gemmill (Beverley) as a Trawler in 1939 and had a Tripple Expansion Steam Engine (coal Fuelled). Her length was 195 feet, beam 32' and draft 18'. I have trawled the web and sadly learnt that she was scrapped on 8th April 1965 at Glasson Dock. As she was a Hull registered Fishing boat I began to wonder why She was scrapped on the opposite side of the Country, But then with a little more thought wondered if She had fished Her remaining days out of Fleetwood? Being such a large vessel her ports would have been limited. It appears that 'Kingston Diamond' is mentioned here? The gracefull description certainly fits.
If anyone anywhere has any information or photos I would love to hear from You.
Many many thanks,
Phil.

I have always been told that my great grandfather had a strong association with Fleetwood's fishing industry. His name was Welsh, do you have any knowledge of him at Fleetwood?

My Grandfather Albert Coxall was a trawler skipper for Boston Deep Sea for over 30 years . His brothers were also connected with the fishing industry but not Boston Deep Sea. My father also worked for Boston Deep Sea for over 20 years but mainly in Hull.
