I have a poem in my possession transmitted by the Radio Operator of the Trawler Red Falcon on the 7th Nov 1959. I was serving onboard the Battle Class Destroyer HMS Dunkirk at the time as Boiler Room Stoker and we were leaving Iceland for Rosyth after a six week Fisheries Protection Patrol.
Red Falcon’s poem was thanking us for all the help we had given them. I wonder if someone can tell me if the Radio Operator who went down with the Red Falcon [ William Cooper] was the same man that transmitted the Poem.

Children’s Friend was built as the Sunbeam III LH215. After Fleetwood she fished from Lowestoft. She was converted by Billy Stevenson in Newlyn.

i want to say thank you for all the interested people on this site. The Vanessa Ann is still alive in her second life as a wonderful sailing vessel. If anybody has some pictures, please contact me. We like to have more information of the history of the ship.

I believe that there are still some crew lists in the PRO at Bow St in Preston but I’m not sure exactly how comprehensive they are.

hello warren, you mentioned orsino. my dad did his last trip in her, when she was on fire. he retired shortly after. my dads name was albert hutchinson. my dad has been deceased for some years now.i wondered what info you can remember about my dad, ie, his rating etc. i do know eddie wooldridge was skipper. i would be very grateful if you got further info.after the fire, i think they flew the crew to aberdeen and they then came home on coach. my email adress is stevechris@stevechris.karoo.co.uk

This rescue happened on the night of 18th.October 1961.Skippers surname was Hugman.An account of this incident appears on page71 of Malcolm Whites book “Down the harbour 1955-1995″.
