i have been waching trawlermen it is one of my best programes. What is the best or most unusual thing you have ever caught?

Steve Welsh

in October 1st, 2008 @ 16:26

Hi Tilly
The most unusual thing we caught was when a large container of drinks fell off a big container ship and a few weeks later we caught 100 bottles of vodka, whisky and brandy.
On noticing the bottles in the cod end of the net Otto very carefully released the cod line so the fish and bottles could land onto the colinnes deck.
Colinne returned to fleetwood two days later with not one bottle opened !!!
We are only allowed to drink tea and coffee

Hi guys. Nice pics you got there, I see the ships still lookin immaculate. Good work lads. Must say she’s one of the best kept ships I’ve seen

Jim Gault

in February 24th, 2009 @ 11:39

Hi Steve,

What a brilliant surprise to see the Colinne again after all these years, I got the link to the site through Ships Nostalgia and asked the question had anybody have any photos of the Colinne before being whalebacked and shelter decked,as I remember her very well, from her days fishing from Lochinver with her owner Tommy Gault. Tommy and my father were the best of friends, not related, Dad’s boat was the Spinaway INS 306. Tommy had to give up the fishing, when he was a young man in his forties due to health reasons. Tommy
passed away sometime in the early nineties. Steve its just great to see these pictures of the Colinne and she looks fanatstic after all these years. Good fishing Steve, full nets and holds to you.

All the very best.

Jim Gault.

Hello. My name is Eva and I am 6 years old. I am in Year 2 at St Bernadette’s school in Bispham and I have to do a project about fish and how it gets on to our plates to eat. Please could I come to look at your boat and my Mum can take a picture of me on your boat or could you tell me any information about fishing. I love to eat fish and it would be good to see how it is caught from the sea. Thank you very much.

Otto

in October 21st, 2009 @ 07:46

Hello Eva sorry we havent replied until now as we have been at sea.Ill see what I can arrange for you to come and see the boat and get your picture taken. When is this project to be done…

Eva

in October 21st, 2009 @ 16:32

Hi Darren, thank you very much for replying to Eva. Her project does not have to be handed in until the end of term (mid December). I appreciate how busy you must be so don’t worry if you can’t help. She is actually off on school holidays now until Tuesday 3rd November so if you are around then we could come midweek. If you would have difficulty during the weekend when she is back at school and you are around midweek I could ask the school if she could have some time off to visit you. Once again thank you very much for replying. Eva’s Mum!

Ewan

in October 27th, 2009 @ 16:53

Hiya there Otto, I’m doing the wildlife photography course at the uni and for my project I am doing the fishing industry. I was just wondering if there was a chance of coming out with you on the boat and record the industry through the eyes of you guys. Cheers Ewan.
